Father and Son day

This past Sunday I decided to take a break from editing and spend some time with my oldest son. So I declared it father and son day. He wanted to go out to Nassau Collosium and see the monster trucks in action. And that is exactly what we did.

Now you have to know something about my oldest son, he is not very fond of anything that has to do with load noises, and for my clients that have met him know he is a bit shy. I told him it was going to be very loud but he still wanted to go, and this was a big step for him. And let me tell you, I was proud of him. I personally don’t think there is anything loader then a 1000+ horsepower monster truck with no exhaust system within an enclosed stadium. Since the venue does not allow and type of long lenses I had to make to with a mid range lens, I hope you all enjoy the next couple of shots.

Wedding day tip The First Dance

Since we are in the off season, it’s a bit quite on the blog front, but I thought I would  share with you a wedding day tip.

Your wedding day is going to be filled with many beautiful and emotional moments that will make your wedding like nobody else’s. One of these precious moments is the first dance, so I have a wedding day tip for you.
Let it be about you and your husband, after all its your day, it’s your time to shine so don’t share the first dance. Instead have a second song for the bridal party, the parents and your guests to join in the festivities. Now here is why, the average song that is played during the first dance is a bit over 3 minutes, from a photography perspective this is the amount of time I have to capture all of my images that will make your first dance yours. Now if you cut the first dance in half and permit the bridal party, parents and guests to join in, the average amount of time I will have is a minute and a half to do this in, think about it 90 seconds. Again this is just a tip, I always do my best for my clients no matter how much time I have during any portion of the day. So what do you guys think?

Huge turnout yesterday.

In my previous post I stated I will be heading on over to Saint Paul’s in Hempstead for the bone marrow testing for Michaella, and I did. Although we ended up getting there 30 minutes before it was over I was overwhelmed by the amount of people that were there. After speaking with one of the volunteers, she told me that it was packed the entire day with a constant stream of people coming in for testing of all ages. So naturally I had my camera with me and I grabbed this quick snapshot, nothing special but rather to illustrate the number of people participating 15 minutes prior to the end of the day.
Another testing site has been setup for January 22 from 2PM until 9PM at St. Catherine’s in Astoria. To verify the times and date call the church office at 718-728-1718. If you weren’t able to make it yesterday make an attempt to go on 1/22. Trust me the test is painless, and you will feel good about yourself when you leave. But most importantly just think if you are that one individual who is a match, what it will it mean to her and her family.

Help Save A Life

Four year old Michaella, a Franklin Square resident, was diagnosed with MDS leukemia 2 months ago. This brave little girl needs a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible. Just a quick swab of your mouth and you may be the perfect match!

image001.gif

This family is from the Cathedral of Saint Paul and at this time they are dealing with a situation that is a parent’s worst nightmare. Their youngest daughter Michaella (just turned four years old) was recently diagnosed with MDS Leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible. Her parents, siblings or relatives are not a match

therefore we need to find a candidate as soon as possible. As you can understand the expense through this ordeal is so great, that the family also needs our help with money. Please help save Michaella by getting tested. Just a swab of your inside cheek can determine if you’re a match. The procedure is a simple process of just giving blood.

In closing off the last wedding of the 2007 season, I had the opportunity in shooting Elaine and Tom’s wedding. Now this wasn’t your usual huge Greek wedding but rather a smaller but yet extremely elegant affair. Now that we are 2008 my first wedding will be in February so until then i will share some specials moments from this years baptisms in the next couple of posts. Until then, keep it real.

Now with 2007 behind us it’s time to start looking into 2008, and what a year 2008 is shaping up to be thus far.   Now what is in store for 2008? New product offerings, cool brides, cool weddings and some great venues. To give you some additional information I’ll be taking on more portrait clients, hopefully and time permitting. Day after shoots, if you or someone that has recently been married wana go out and have some fun let’s schedule it, if you would like to receive additional information call me. And some more stuff that I wish not to make public yet. As for New Years resolutions let’s see.

  • Stop smoking
  • Lose some weight, you guys don’t make this that easy with those yummy desserts at your wedding
  • Spend more time with my kids and wife
  • Take a vacation
  • Capture the essence of your wedding
  • Give back more
  • New Blog design
  • Spreading the word.

I think that about does it. So I hope 2008 will be a great year for us all. Until next time. Christos

Christos sporting a pair of D300s

This afternoon I was browsing the net looking for places that had the D300 in stock, typically I check B&H but they were out of stock. So i checked the website of a local reputable camera store called Berger Brothers. Guess what they had these bad boys in stock, so I took a ride out there and not only did I purchase one D300 I ended up getting two of them. It’s actually a good thing they didn’t have the D3 in stock because I would have bought that as well. Now here is Image number 38 from this camera shot at 3200 ISO with no flash, this is the first time i’ve ever shot at this ISO with a digital Nikon body. So i will be shooting a wedding tomorrow and I can not wait……….If anyone is interested i’m selling a D2H, D2X and a D200.ch3_0038.jpg

Have a Merry Christmas everyone

I think for this post i will keep it short sweet and simple to all of my family, friends and clients. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Eirini and Iraklis Uber Greek Wedding

On the coldest day thus far, I had the opportunity to shoot the wedding of the uber cool couple Eirini and Irakli. Their wedding ceremony was once again held at The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St. Paul in Hempsted. And when it was time to get down and wiggle it we had a cool time over at the North Ritz Club in Long Island.

Why I love what I do

This Saturday i ended up going to pick up my mail at my PO box and what a surprise, Christmas cards for me. As I read the cards from my clients I can tell I did something very special on their wedding day.I would like to share such a card with you, I thought it would be fitting that the card I should show you is from the bride that is directly below this post.webimg001.jpg

On another note my wife and two boys decided to give me one of my Christmas gifts a bit early. Say hello to my spanking new holiday coffee mug.

End of year schedule

Wow what an amazing year it has been and by the looks of it next year will be even better. I still have to blog about a few more weddings by the end of this year so hopefully I can finish the edits and post them up.

As this holiday season is fast approaching us I have decided to limit the number of appointments I will be making before the end of the year, for those that are still sitting on the fence now is the time to call me.

As of December 10, 2007 I will not be making any new appointments until January 7, 2008. Sorry folks but I need some me time, and most of all to spend a relaxing holiday season with my family.

I still have a few remaining dates available for 2008 so if you haven’t decided yet, well that is bad, make it quick. As of today I still haven’t open my 2009 calendar yet so all dates are still available so keep an eye on my blog to find out when I will be accepting 2009 weddings. I’ll give you all a hint are you ready, roses, chocolates and hearts oh my…. :-)
